Happy Birthday Rhett!

Rhett turned 2 years old a few weekends ago and his party was Curious George theme. His mom, bless her heart, couldn't find any grocery store or bakery that did Curious George cakes and I thought that was a bit odd because it's such a timeless character. Or so I thought. I had a hard time finding anything Curious George at my regular cake supply shops. But luckily I was able to come up with this cute little cake. This is a double layer, 10" square, classic white cake with buttercream icing.

Thanks so much for asking me to do the cake, Kelly!! I hope you're feeling well! (Kelly and I are both expecting little girls this Spring!)

Happy 88th Birthday Mr. Finley!

I did this cake a while back and just realized that I hadn't blogged about it. Mr. and Mrs. Finley have been friends with my husband's maternal grandparents for a VERY long time and we currently worship with them in Alvin, Tx at the Adoue Street Church of Christ. Our group was having a potluck lunch one Sunday afternoon during our gospel meeting, so Mrs. Finley asked if I could make a birthday cake for Mr. Finley since his birthday was that week.

This cake was a single layer 6" circle on top of a single layer 10" circle, both yellow cake, with chocolate icing (Mr. Finley's favorite) and decorated with some buttercream icing.

Happy Birthday Reid!!

Reid is youngest of my three nephews and he asked me to do his birthday cake over a month ago. He knew exactly what he wanted; a strawberry cake with Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and a storm trooper on top. Sounded easy enough!

We ended up with a double layer, quarter sheet strawberry cake with buttercream icing. The little Death Star cake was something I added at the last minute and is also strawberry cake with buttercream icing.

Happy 5th Birthday Reid, I love you!!!
