Christmas cakeballs and a Snowman

This is how I've been decorating my holiday cakeballs.  And a better picture of my Snowman cakeball.

Happy Birthday Tatum!

Tatum turned 8 last weekend and she had a girly make-over party.  I did a simple double layer, 10-inch round cake, one layer was classic white and one layer was chocolate, with buttercream icing and fondant decorations.

Thanks for asking me to do the cake, D'Ann.  Maddie had a blast at the party!

Happy 1st Birthday Garrett!

Garrett's 1st birthday party was last weekend and it was jungle animal themed.  He had a single layer vanilla full sheet cake (it was a big ol' thing!) and a matching vanilla smash cake (5-inch round), both with buttercream and fondant decorations.  His mom wanted me to copy the safari cake from the baby shower I did a few months ago.

Thank you Monica for asking me to do the cake.  It was great to see you!

Cakeballs for Thanksgiving!

Baby Carriage Shower Cake - Take 2

Wow, I haven't updated this blog in a while.

This was another version of the baby carriage cake I did recently for a baby shower.  Except this time, I added a baby face.  Again it was a double layer, 12-inch round classic white cake with two 4-inch classic white cakes as wheels with buttercream icing and chocolate fondant zebra stripes.

Plus, matching cakeballs!
Thanks for ordering with me Jennifer!

Happy 1st Birthday Nia!

I had another 1st birthday this past weekend and this cake for a beautiful little girl named Nia.  Her mom emailed me a picture of her party dress and asked me to decorate the cake to match it.  I have to say that I'm very, very pleased with the outcome!

The top layer was a double-layer, 6" round chocolate cake and the bottom layer was a double-layer, 8" round pineapple cake with a pineapple filling.  Both were iced in buttercream icing.  The tutu and flowers were not edible. :)

Thank you so much for asking me to do this cake, Mithali.  I had alot of fun with it!

Happy Birthday Nicholas!

Nicholas' 4th birthday party was last weekend and he had a Scooby Doo party.  Instead of traditional party favors, his mom wanted to do decorated jumbo sugar cookies for his friends to take home.  She told me that even the parents asked if they could take one home! (I love comments like that!)  She wanted dog bone shaped cookies and I had the idea to put "Scooby Snack" on them.  They were individually bagged and I added the gift tag.

Thanks for ordering with me again, Katherine!

Happy 1st Birthday Caleb!

Caleb had his 1st birthday party last weekend and the theme was 1st Cupcake Birthday Party.  Caleb's mom wanted his cakes to coordinate with the theme so here's what I did.  The big cake was a double-layer, 10" round chocolate cake with cream cheese icing.  Caleb's personal cake was vanilla with buttercream icing.

Chelsea, thanks so much for your order!

Happy Halloween!!

I made these cute little fellas for my daughter's Mothers Day Out teachers and even ended up selling some (thanks to my awesome Facebook fans!).

These yummy mummies were actually Oreo cookies dipped in chocolate and hand decorated by yours truly.

Happy Halloween everyone!!

Baby Carriage Shower Cake

"This is precious AND fabulous!" - comment from a Facebook Fan.   I love getting comments on my cake pictures, so please feel free to post them!

This was a double layer, 12-inch round classic white cake and two little single layer, 4-inch round white cakes with buttercream icing.  The black zebra stripes were fondant accents.

Thanks so much for ordering this cake, Kim!!

Happy Birthday Alex!

Alex's mom and I grew up together, so I was pretty excited to do his birthday cake for him.  This was a double layer, 10-inch vanilla cake with buttercream icing.  The logo on the front is the logo of his baseball team, The Jokers.

Thanks for asking me to do this cake, Amy.  Love ya!

Here's a pic of the actual logo:

Swirly Shower Cake

This was a 6-inch and 8-inch square stacked cake for a couples wedding shower.  The top layer was red velvet and the bottom was vanilla, both were iced with buttercream.  Deep purple accents were also included.

Thanks Kim for letting me do this cake for you.

Happy Birthday Max!

Are you ready for some serious cake cuteness?

Max had a Toy Story birthday party a few weekends back and this was his birthday cake.  The top layer was a double layer, 6-inch round yellow cake with buttercream icing.  The bottom layer was a double layer, 10-inch round strawberry cake with buttercream icing.  Fondant accents included the stars, Max's name, the #2 and the picket fence around the bottom.  The Toy Story characters were actually a set of figurines from the Disney Store.

Thank you Amy for ordering with me!  This is one of my all-time favorites!

Made 2 Match Baby Shower Cake

These baby shower cakes were made to match the baby's crib bedding.  There were three cakes in all plus 2 dozen red velvet cakeballs.  The mom-to-be was surprised during a Houston Rodeo Committee meeting!

This cake was a double layer, 10" round vanilla cake with buttercream icing.  (the last name is intentionally blurry, I didn't think I should post the baby's full name!)

This cake was a double layer, 8" round chocolate cake with buttercream icing.

This cake was a double layer, 8" round carrot cake with cream cheese icing.

Christmas in September!

If Hobby Lobby can start selling Christmas decor in July, then I can make snowmen cakeballs in September! :)

A customer of mine was having a ladies bible study dinner and her table was snowman themed.  She wanted to have a dessert for the ladies at her table that matched the theme and this is what I came up with.  It's actually 2 chocolate cakeballs stacked on top of eachother.

Thanks for  your order Stephanie!

Safari Baby Shower Cake

This baby shower was Safari themed and the hostess saw a sample cake she wanted me to copy.  It was a single layer, half-sheet cake in vanilla with buttercream icing and fondant accents.

Thanks for ordering with me, Cody!

Cakeballs for Cam's 2nd Birthday!

The cutest little guy had his 2nd birthday party a few weekends ago and it was a Robin Hood theme.  So I made these cakeballs to match the colors.

Selena, thanks so much for ordering with me and I'm glad everyone enjoyed them!

Deer Park Tigers and Starlights

My husband is a football coach for the Deer Park Tigers in his spare time (it's a little league football team).  Last weekend was their first game and the drill team/cheerleaders, the Starlights, held a pep rally for the boys.  To thank the girls, the Tigers wanted to give them something special and sweet.  So I baked and decorated 74 big sugar cookies, they  measured 5 inches by 3 inches.

Then Saturday after the football game, Coach Jake gave his players and coaches these helmet sugar cookies customized with the boys' numbers (32 total).

Baby Shower Cake for Addison

We really live in a small world.  The girl who ordered this cake from me and I went to high school together and I graduated with her husband.  It was definitely a surprise when I showed up at their house for the delivery!

Anyway, she wanted the cake to match the baby's nursery bedding:

I did a double-layer, 10" classic white cake with buttercream and chocolate fondant on the sides. I'm really happy how this cake turned out and it is one of my favorite cakes I've done to date.  There were also 2 dozen chocolate cakeballs that I forgot to take a picture of.  They were dipped in chocolate with blue and green drizzles, to match the cake colors.

Carrie, thanks so much for ordering with me and it was great to catch up with you!!

Custom colored cake balls

These are chocolate and lemon cake balls dipped in custom colored vanilla.  The birthday girl's favorite color is purple and her sister wanted her cakeballs to match.

Thank you for your order Tiffany!

Happy Birthday Abby!

I was so excited that I got to do Abby's birthday cake again this year. The theme for her 3rd birthday party was an "Under the Sea" pool party. Her cake was stacked; the top tier was a double layer, 6-inch round chocolate cake with buttercream icing and the bottom tier was a double layer, 10-inch round white cake with buttercream icing. Most of the coral decorations were made with fondant.

Thanks for inviting us to the party, Amber, and asking me to do this fun cake for Abby!

60th Birthday Celebration

This was a cake I did for an old high school friend of mine, who's mom was turning 60 last weekend. This was a double layer, 12-inch round Italian Cream Cake, complete with toasted coconut, chopped pecans and a yummy, yummy homemade cream cheese icing. I don't make these cakes very often but they're one of my most favorite.

Thanks for letting me do this cake for you, Cody!

Happy 1st Birthday Jenna!

This was the first time I'd used my giant cupcake mold and I was really nervous. The theme of Jenna's party was Sweet Shoppe by Chickabug (cute, cute, cute party printables). I did the giant cupcake in chocolate with buttercream. The beautiful platter belonged to Jenna's mom; isn't it gorgeous? I also did a small 5-inch round chocolate smash cake for the birthday girl.
Thanks for asking me to do another cake for you, Marybeth. Jenna's party looked absolutely beautiful!

Happy Birthday Jared!

This is turning out to be a popular cake with the boys! Here's the sports cake again, double-layer, 10" square cake, half chocolate and half yellow with buttercream icing.

For those interested, I can do different sports balls on this cake, you're not confined to football, baseball and basketball.

Thanks for your order Stephanie. I hope Jared enjoyed his cake!

July 4th and Baking Contest!

I didn't have any cakes due the week of the 4th so I had some time to myself in the kitchen. Our neighborhood always has a big 4th of July party and a baking contest. Last year my cakeballs won so naturally I wanted to enter again!

Here's what I came up with and I won 1st prize!!

40th Anniversary Cake

My wonderful parents just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last weekend and I wanted to give them a special little cake just for them. This was a 6-inch, double-layer, classic white cake with strawberry filling and buttercream icing. According to Google, the 40th anniversary is the ruby red anniversary so that explains the strawberry and red accents.

They never read this blog but I'll wish them a very happy anniversary anyway!

Baby Shower Cake

This is another invitation inspired baby shower cake. It was a classic white, double-layer, 8-inch square cake with buttercream icing (with the exception of the dark brown, which was chocolate icing).

Thanks for asking me to do this cake for you, Sarah! Love you!

Happy Birthday Tanner!

We had another sports party for a 10th birthday a few weekend ago. Tanner got this double-layer, quarter sheet cake half chocolate and half classic white with buttercream icing.

Thanks again D'Ann for keeping me busy!!

Happy 7th Birthday Tate!

Decorating this cake reminded me that I've been doing this for a year now.....wow, time has flown by! A year ago I made my 2nd entry in this blog for my nephew, Tate's 6th birthday party. And here I am posting a picture of Tate's 7th birthday cake.

My sister-in-law made the cake, which was a chocolate chip cookie cake, and I decorated it how Tate wanted (his party was at a roller skating rink).

Congratulations to Jordan!

Jordan graduated from high school last weekend and her mom wanted her to have an awesome cake. She sent me a sample picture (you know I love copying cakes!) and I went to town. The top layer was a double layer, 8" round white cake with pineapple filling and buttercream icing. The bottom layer was a double layer, 12" round white cake with buttercream filling and icing. The accents were all fondant.

I'm so glad the cake was a hit, Stephanie. Thanks again for ordering with me!!

Happy 9th Birthday Cole!

My oldest nephew, Cole, turned 9 last week and he wanted a baseball birthday cake. This was a double layer, 10" square cake, half chocolate and half white cake with buttercream icing.

Happy Birthday Cole-man, I can't believe you're getting so old! Love you!
